Teeth Whitening

Whitening your teeth can work in different ways depending on the method you and your dentist choose for your teeth. The most common method that dentists use in-office is a bleaching procedure that will change the natural color of your teeth anywhere from five to seven shades whiter. The bleach used contains active ingredients, typically carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. In-office procedures involve the whitening tray and a light that activates the ingredients in order to brighten your teeth. Dentists can also prepare a whitening mouthpiece that is used at home, which is worn for a few hours a day over the course of two weeks. There are also over-the-counter methods that use strips and is typically a two or three-week process to remove stains from the surface of the teeth. Depending on your eating and drinking habits, patients can expect to have whiter teeth for anywhere between six months and over a year.

Veneers

Veneers can help with a variety of aesthetic issues, including crooked and damaged teeth, or if there are gaps in between teeth. They are a thin piece of porcelain that is permanently bonded to the surface of your teeth and creates a natural look and feel. Depending on the condition of your teeth, the procedure is typically done within one visit, but there may be some preparation needed for the teeth, in which case, there may be a follow-up appointment where the veneers are actually placed on your teeth.

Enamel Microabrasion

Stains or spots can develop on teeth for a variety of reasons, including accidents, braces, tooth decay, smoking, medications, or if there is too much fluoride in the water. In certain situations, teeth whitening may not be enough to get rid of these stains. Microabrasion is a simple procedure that uses hydrochloric acid and pumice to gently remove the top layer of enamel on the teeth. We can assure you that this process is safe for your teeth and gums and will create a beautiful white smile.
